Dropped the Kids Off at Day Care

Well, this morning was the beginning of my summer.  I got up around 6:30 to start getting ready.  Matthew woke up about 6:45 for a bottle so his timing turned out to be right on target.  James had been up for a little bit which was surprising.  I went in to get him around 7:00 and he looked at me, pointed to his feet and said “socks.”  Then he said “hot.”  Which really meant cold, the poor boy’s feet were cold.

Everyone got ready and we were out the door about 7:15.  (I almost forgot Mattew’s bottles..phew) James took off to go and smack the neighbor’s car.  Thank goodness it doesn’t have an alarm because he really likes to run over to and give it a whack.  On the way over to the car this morning, he stepped in dog poop.  Perfect!!  So I took his shoe off and realized I would have to carry him until I could clean it off.

We got to the day care around 7:30, right when they open.  We went inside and got settled.  Matthew was fine as expected.  He had no idea what what was going on.  James on the other hand knew something was up.  He wanted to play but wouldn’t leave my side.  Finally, the day care staff lured him out front to look at the outside toys.  I left and saw them still out front when I drove away.  It is never easy to leave your child in an unfamiliar place.  I’m sure he adjusted well and is happily playing right now.  It was probably harder for me than it was for him.  (I let you know later if that’s true.)  I did bring his Redskins blanket so he would have something familiar with him.  I hope that plan works.

to be continued…
