I just wanted to write a short post about my favorite children’s book.  It is titled, The Table Where Rich People Sit.  It is written by Byrd Baylor, which happens to be my favorite author.  I always start the school year out by reading this story to my students.  It is about a girl who starts to question her family’s ideals and beliefs.  She thinks that they are very poor, but her family shows her differently.  That is all I will tell you, because even if you are an adult, I think you should read this book.  I really believe it should be required reading for incoming freshmen in college.  I actually had a professor, one of my favorite professors, require all of her classes to read the book.  Once you have read this book, you will find that Byrd Baylor has many beautifully written books to enjoy.  All of her books are labled as “childrens” but as an adult you can benefit greatly from her stories.  Please go to the library and read this book, you will be glad you did.
