Scary caller to a radio station

On the way home from work today, I was listening to a radio station called the HAWK.  The DJ on this station in the afternoon usually makes some sort of statement and asks listeners to call in with opinions.  He then usually pokes some sort of fun at the caller.  Today was different.  The DJ asked listeners to call in and talk about the presidential candidates.  So I’m driving along and listening to the usual opinions when this happens.  A guy calls in, and he has a very deep southern accent.  He says, “Everybody listen to what I am saying, Obama rhymes with Osama.”  “I’ll say it again, Obama rhymes with Osama!”  Then he says, “see, that tells us everything, if we are not careful, they will slip one of those right in there for president!”  This guy was dead serious.  I couldn’t believe it.  Just because Obama rhymes with Osama, and Obama is black, I guess that makes him a terrorist.  The guy kept rambling on about how the two names rhyme.  I was just shocked.  Then he goes on to say how he and his buddies are voting the traditional American way.  All that is running through my head is that I hope this guy hasn’t, or never will reproduce.  Anyway, after his call, many more called in and voiced similar opinions.  It really scared me to think I live in a place where people are so uneducated and closed minded.  These are the kind of people that breed hate and prejudice and ignorance.  A truly scary afternoon.  I can’t stop thinking that there are adults out there with such views.  And who are the “they” in his statement, “if we are not careful, they will slip one of those right in there for president.”  Wait a minute, back in the 1980’s, didn’t we have a president with the name Ronald?  And that rhymes with Donald!  Hold the phone, THEY slipped a cartoon duck in there for president!  I knew it!

  1. Where does the HAWK originate?

  2. In Wilmington

  3. Wait, not Ronald or Donald. What if we woke up one morning with Ronald McDonald as president?

  4. Believe me, it’s not only there. I live in a area chock full of these people.

  5. Where do these people come from? I really don’t understand the thinking. I mean, it’s ok if you don’t want to vote for somebody for political reasons, but come on.

  6. They come from their parents. When you have an idiot as a parent, unfortunately, you have an idiot brain.

I agree with you, I am not sure where this particular hate comes from. I think they are severely uninformed.

  7. It is sad that today, in a so called “advanced” society, so many people still have so much hate and mis-information. Scary.
