I read in the paper recently how George Bush is pushing to open up oil exploration and drilling in the ANWR Wildlife Reserve in Alaska.  I really don’t understand why.  The article states that it wouldn’t be until 2012 – 2015 that we would actually get any oil out of the region, and then only enough to last the United States less than two years at our current consumption.  In future years, we will look back and wonder why we ruined beautiful, pristine, untouched wildlife for a few moments of possible cheaper oil prices.  Hopefully we won’t need oil for fuel in the year 2015.  There are many alternatives, but the oil companies and automobile makers are so powerful, they can afford the lobbyist in Washington D.C. to pass such legislation that ruins our earth, Mother Earth if you will.  The earth is where we came from, and we must treat it as though it is our loving mother.
