Poplar Grove Harvest Festival Wilmington, NC

My sister called me this morning to tell me about the Harvest Festival. It is being held at Poplar Grove where they normally hold their Farmer’s Market. It is going on today from 8-1.
I was very excited to take James there. We love to go on adventures and if they are free that’s even better. When we drove to the festival, I could see a lot of cars parked on the grass. There were tons of vendors and kids in wagons being pulled by their parents. James was very excited and sat up in his stroller to look around at his surrounding.
First, we strolled through the whole festival, just looking. Then we turned around and went back. I first stopped at a peanut stand and bought my husband a canister of fresh peanut butter. He likes that! There are no additives and it is pure ground, mashed peanuts.
Next we stopped at a vegetable stand. I love locally grown produce and it is usually bigger and cheaper than what you can find in the grocery store. We ended up buying a tomato, a green pepper and some squash.
Our last stop was at an organic bread stand. Everything smelled so good. I ended up buying a “Blob” for James. A “Blob” is a natural cookie that has a little bit of everything. It has oats, cinnamon, raisins, cranberries and chocolate chips. I’m sure there are other ingredients but I can’t remember them. I tried it and it had a very strong taste. James liked it but seemed to be more interested in looking around…
When we left, the parking area was even more packed than earlier. I overheard someone say that today was publicized very well but they have the Farmer’s Market every Wednesday at the same time. It turned out to be a nice outing.
